It Takes a Village (Part 1)

“It Takes a Village” is a popular saying these days, but that’s what we actually lived.  Children did not have to be afraid, and parents did not have to be afraid for them.

All the adults looked out for all the children.  In the summertime, we could walk for miles to visit family or friends–as long as we were back home before the street lights came on.  You never heard of a child being kidnapped or killed.  Hell, you never heard of an adult being kidnapped or killed, either!

What happened?!!
