THIS WEEK’S REVIEW:  “Line of Serenity”

Carol Carpenter of Livonia, Michigan, says, “In ‘Line of Serenity,’ Joyce Fields inspires us to face life head on with optimism, enthusiasm and a strong belief in ourselves and others who surround us. She offers strategies for developing a ‘line of serenity,’ a life force that flows through us and links us to others. No matter what challenges we take on, Ms. Fields shows us how to meet each one with love, grace, dignity and a huge appetite for learning and moving onward and upward. Best of all, she shows how the ‘line of serenity’ philosophy and strategies work in her large family – and how they can work for each and every one of us.”

TODAY’S BLOG

The Service

One Sunday morning, the pastor noticed little Alex was staring up at the large plaque that hung in the foyer of the church.

It was covered with names, and small American flags were mounted on either side of it.

The eight-year-old had been staring at the plaque for some time, so the pastor walked up, stood beside him, and said quietly, “Good morning, Alex.”

“Good morning,” replied the young boy, still focused on the plaque.

“What is this?” Alex asked.

“Well, son, it’s a memorial to all the young men and women who died in the service.”

Soberly, they stood together for several minutes, staring at the large plaque.

Little Alex’s voice was trembling and barely audible when he asked, “Which service, the 9:45 or the 11:15?”
