THIS WEEK’S REVIEW:  “Line of Serenity”

Ava Thrower of Detroit, Michigan, says, “Every family should have a “line of serenity” running through it!  This book has excellent examples of how it was growing up in an African-American community in the 50’s and 60’s.  What is unique about this story is the author’s insight on how her parents were able to lovingly raise three daughters and four sons to be caring, calm, unselfish, intelligent, responsible, and positive-thinking adults.  The family pictures and recipes add a special touch to her family’s story.  (You’ll find yourself wanting to try out these recipes!)”

  • Faith is the ability to not panic.
  • If you worry, you didn’t pray.  If you pray, don’t worry.
  • As a child of God, prayer is kind of like calling home every day.
  • Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.
  • When we get tangled up in our problems, be still.  God wants us to be still so He can untangle the knot.
  • Silence is often misinterpreted, but never misquoted.
  • Laugh every day; it’s like inner jogging.
  • The most important things in your home are the people.
  • Growing old is inevitable; growing up is optional.
  • There is no key to happiness.  The door is always open.
  • Feed your faith, and your doubts will starve to death.
