“HATING HARMS THE ONES WHO HATE MORE THAN IT HARMS THE HATED”

(excerpted from “My Simple Quotes to Live By” – available at http://www.amazon.com [available on Kindle, too!] and http://www.GoodShortBooks.com)

My Simple Quotes - GSB - AmazonThere is an old saying that goes “Poison corrodes the vessel that carries it.”  Hate makes the hater ugly–inside.  What’s inside comes out.  And it makes the hater do ugly things.  Hate leads to racism.

We do children a grave disservice when we teach them to hate.  And they must be TAUGHT to hate.  Hate is not innate.

When you teach children to hate, they may also learn to hate you.  Hate opens the door to lies, dishonesty, disrespect, and everything else that is negative.

We are all children of God.

God made human beings in different colors.  No one can take credit or blame for the color of his or her skin.

It should be pointed out and emphasized that, under the skin, we are all the same.   We have the same bones, organs, arteries, etc.  And they function the same way.

If we cannot look to our so-called “leaders” to bring us together as a bouquet of colors, we can do it for ourselves—in our homes and communities.  We MUST do it for ourselves–if we want to make the world a better place for all of us!

We can teach children to EXpect to see and interact with people whose skin color is different from theirs.  We can teach children to REspect the different skin colors in the world and to realize that there is nothing “special” about any particular skin color.

People of all colors have made tremendous contributions to world progress.  Children AND adults should be made aware of and honor that fact.
