Mrs. Shannon is the teacher I remember most from junior high school. Back then, that’s what we called it: “junior high school,” not “middle school.”
It never dawned on us as to how much teachers were paid. We just knew that was their job, and they were HIGHLY RESPECTED for it. And most of them were damn good at it! We learned our lessons well!
Virtually all of us have at least one fond memory of a special teacher. That’s how much teachers impact our lives! Think about it. Remember?
Today, it’s all over the news about politicians wanting to bust up the teachers’ union and take away their bargaining power, which could result in giving teachers LESS money, not more. Don’t they realize that, without teachers, we’d all be as dumb as ______ (fill in the blank)! Teachers teach teachers, presidents, doctors, nurses, plumbers, electricians, carpenters–EVERYBODY!!
That’s why they should have the highest pay. . .
